Chit Chat brings Facebook Chat to PC Desktops

February 24th - By: Craig Pen

Imagine life without the internet or the telephone. Imagine walking to the next town to deliver a message. Compared to days past, today’s far reaching and nearly instantaneous social networking technology is magic. With the new third party Facebook Chat Messenger integration, the new Facebook photo uploader and the new Facebook privacy settings, the magic keeps getting better.

Right: Chit Chat for Facebook makes it possible to use Facebook Chat from your desktop like you would another instant messenger network like Windows Live Messenger or Google Talk. The Facebook Instant Messenger supports conversation history, emoticons and sign in status alerts.

A Taste of Viral Marketing Success

In just four short days an onion ring has been able to accumulate over 1,300,000 facebook fans. The name of this newly viral facebook page is "Can this onion ring get more fans than Justin Bieber?". Update: The day after this post was posted the fan page achieved it's goal. Now this fan page cannot be found on Facebook so I am guessing that the publicist for Justin Bieber bought this group and had it shut down.

Bill Gates’ Facebook Profile

This is a Comedy Facebook Profile of Bill Gates. It is quite hilarious, but not real in the slightest. Apparently Bill Gates had Facebook but quit due to "too many friends." Nonetheless, he is still awesome.

Connecting with your Family on Facebook

December 21st | By: Garin Kilpatrick
If you go to facebook.com/family you will find a nifty directory that allows you to search for people on Facebook with the same last name as you. Facebook also made the announcement, on mothers day of 2009, that now you can list family information in your profile. Now, not only can you list the person you are in a relationship with, but also your parents, and any siblings and children you may have.

Facebook Down? Use Facebook Lite!

In the years that I have been using facebook I have not been able to login twice. Both times when facebook was broken it was probably just the result of crowded bandwidth at a packed library. On both occasions Facebook lite saved my night. Most people just use regular facebook, and many do not even know about Facebook lite. But if facebook.com ever goes down it's facebook lite to the rescue!

What is Facebook Lite?

Facebook lite is a stripped down version of Facebook. It is optimized to be lightning fast, and has no application integration. That means you won't be able to play Farmville but you will be able to do core facebook tasks in a way that is supposedly "faster and simpler."

Facebook Chat Emoticons and Symbols

Sometimes words just are not enough. For times when words just can't express, there are emoticons. With the somewhat recent implementation of facebook chat came a new set of emoticons too. Here is a graph showing all of the different facebook emoticons that you can use in chat.

The above graph was derived from a website called fbemoticons, but the symbols are property of facebook. Fbemoticons also features pages with special symbols, basic symbols, and more!
